Chapter 2 The next morning, she has her prey insight, stalking it as she keeps her stomach from growling and giving herself away. She’s been tracking this deer, plump and all alone, all morning, and won’t be happy if it ran off because of her hunger.
As she gets closer, the deer raises its head and runs off. She growls, annoyed, and leaps out, determined to chase it, until she heard the roar of a bear, charging out from the trees into the small open area where she stood. She turned to run, not willing to risk fighting a bear on her own, but stumbled as she turned. She saw the bear rise up, blocking out the sun’s ray
